Greener Homes Scheme
Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI), the governments Energy Agency, has been assigned to actively promote the usage of renewable energy. Their aim is to increase the number of households using renewable energy and at the same time reduce the dependency on fossil fuels. The Greener Homes Scheme is designed to financially support individuals to invest in sustainable energy systems.
Who can avail of the grant?
Basically all homeowners who wish to install renewable energy solutions (see eligible products) such as new wood chip/pellet, a solar or heat pump based heating system. The grant is open for applicants:
- Individuals building a new home and intending to install a renewable heating system.
- Individuals intending to retrofit or install a new renewable heating system in their existing home.
What level of Funding is available?
The levels of grant support available for each technology are as follows:

Can I get more than one grant?
Only one grant will be provided per dwelling under Phase II and where a dwelling had an installation funded under Phase I that dwelling will not be eligible for further grant aid under the Scheme.
However, you may avail of a green loan to further finance your investment.
