Home Energy Saving (HES) Scheme
The Home Energy Saving Scheme provides assistance for homeowners of existing dwellings Nationwide who are interested in improving your energy efficiency of their home in order to reduce their energy costs and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
The scheme is administered by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) and its agents.
How much are the grants?
Grants are fixed for each type of measure as indicated in the table below. Grant approval must be in place before any purchase of materials or commencement of measures undertaken. Grants are paid after the measures are completed and the contractor has been paid by the homeowner. In the instance where the cost of the work (vat inclusive) is less than the fixed grant amount, the actual cost will be reimbursed.

* Please note that while you are entitled to apply for each Measure there is a minimum requirement that the grant amount in the first application must be €500 or greater. The BER grant cannot form part of this €500 amount.
Terms and Conditions:
Be sure that prior to applying you have read and understand the scheme's Terms and Conditions (to be published once the scheme is open for homeowner applications) and in particular please note the following:
- Grant Approval must be in place prior to any purchase of materials or commencement of measures undertaken.
- You may apply several times, however the grant value of your first application must be €500. The BER assessment grant cannot form part of the €500 amount.
- All works must be carried out by a contractor registered with Sustainable Energy Ireland for this particular scheme.
The SEI is currently seeking expressions of interest from contractors. Applications from homeowners will be possible once enough contractors are registered with the SEI. The grant scheme is expected to be available for house owners in March/April.
